Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones recently took the stage at West L.A. Music to present a bass guitar “Master Class” to hundreds of enthusiastic musicians. Jones has performed and recorded with The Rolling Stones since founding bassist Bill Wyman’s retirement in 1993.

Jones, who has also performed and recorded with Miles Davis, Eric Clapton, Sting and Madonna, shared a wealth of knowledge with the ecstatic crowd, covering topics such as “Active Listening” and “Grooving with other players”. During the clinic, Jones invited event attendees to play with him on stage, while he coached.

In addition to working with local musicians at the event, Jones also gave fans insight on how to play bass lines from such Rolling Stones songs as “Miss You”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, and “Tumblin’ Dice.”  Jones also treated the appreciative crowd to compositions by jazz greats Miles Davis and Jaco Pastorious, as well as an extensive question and answer session that included advice on how to “land and keep” professional music jobs.

The event took place at West L.A. Music’s West Los Angeles location.  Event attendees enjoyed a meet and greet and autograph signing session with Darryl after the event, as well as exclusive pricing on Ampeg amplifiers, the event’s sponsor.
