West L.A. Music honored by L.A. Mayor

WEST L.A. MUSIC was recently honored by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa for contributions to the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department.

West L.A. Music, in cooperation with the Mayor's office and the Los Angeles Youth Opportunity Movement, designed and installed a state-of-the-art digital recording studio for the newly constructed Boyle Heights Technology Youth Center. The Center, located in one of the most economically challenged areas of the city, is the first facility of its kind. It provides training for high-tech jobs and offers students the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to secure and maintain employment in an increasingly competitive job market.

The Boyle Heights Technology Youth Center is operated by the Los Angeles Youth Operation Movement (LAYOM), in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education and several community partners. Through these partnerships the Center utilizes technology to promote educational achievement, college readiness, and career opportunities for youth and their families and at the same time challenging and motivating them to set high standards for themselves and their communities.
