HOLLYWOOD, CA — August 25th, 2001 - At the recent Hollywood bowl concert, the legendary Ray Charles was ushered in to a sweeping orchestral rendition of "I Can't Stop Loving You", his smile big enough to light up the entire auditorium. Getting right to the music, Ray immediately launched into "They Can't Take that Away from Me," followed by the touching yet humorous "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Ray can still hit those high notes as he demonstrated with "Georgia on My Mind," and he delighted the crowd when he pulled out a saxophone and delivered a rousing solo on "All I Ever Need is You." A high point of the show was when his backup singers, the Raylettes, sashayed in as Ray leapt into the familiar riff of "Hit the Road, Jack." The crowd adored his rendition of "A Song for You," and he sang "I Can't Stop Loving You" with a whimsical optimism that proves it will always be a classic.

Between sets, West L.A. Music's Don Griffin and legendary country pop star Johnny Tillotson paid a surprise visit to Ray backstage. "I've been a huge fan of Ray Charles for years, and it was a thrill to hear him at the Hollywood Bowl and to be able to bring him together again with Johnny Tillotson." "West L.A. Music has had the privilege of handling Ray's musical instrument and recording equipment needs for years.

Tillotson, a two time BMI songwriting award winner and Grammy nominee, has 14 top 40 hits including "Poetry In Motion," "It Keeps Right On A Hurtin," "Without You," and "Talk Back Trembling Lips." Another long-time customer of West L.A. Music, Johnny Tillotson also recorded the popular hit theme song for the T.V. show "Gidget," starring Sally Field.

"Johnny and Ray had fun talking about old times," Don said. "It's one of the best benefits of working in the music industry - you get to meet and become friends with your favorite performers!" After the show, Johnny stated "I had the time of my life, and I can't stop loving you Ray Charles."
